India's financial capital is also its strongest hotel market, with business travellers, concert crowds and weekenders all competing for rooms. Colonial landmarks line the harbour in South Mumbai, while the suburbs hold the airport, Bandra's cafés and the Bandra-Kurla business district. Getting around takes time, so choose your neighbourhood by where you will spend your days. The cooler, drier months from October to February are the easiest time to explore on foot.

Mumbai FAQs

How do I get to Mumbai?
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) is one of India's main international gateways. Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI), opened in 2025, mainly handles domestic flights and is far from central Mumbai. Hundreds of trains arrive daily from across India.
When is the best time to visit Mumbai?
October to February, when the weather is pleasant and less humid. The monsoon (roughly June–September) brings heavy rain.
Where should I stay in Mumbai?
South Mumbai puts you near both the business district and the main sights; the Western Suburbs are handiest for the airport. Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) is a major luxury and business hotel cluster.
Which airport is closer to the city?
For most of the city, BOM in the suburbs is the closer airport. Navi Mumbai airport is across the harbour and mainly serves the suburbs to the east.
