Chennai is the gateway to Tamil Nadu and one of India's major international entry points, with a long seafront, centuries-old temples and a strong classical music and dance scene. Its hotels serve the automobile and IT corridors as well as leisure travellers heading down the East Coast Road to Mahabalipuram. The city is hot for much of the year, so the November-to-February window is the most comfortable. The metro now links the airport to Chennai Central.
