India's best-known beach destination packs palm-fringed coastline, Portuguese-era churches and a relaxed café culture into a small state. North Goa's beach belt is the busy, social side; the south is quieter, with wider sands and calmer stays. Two airports now serve the state, making short breaks easy from most Indian cities. Peak season from November to March brings the best weather and the highest prices, while the monsoon turns the hinterland green and the beaches quiet.
